Recognizing the needs of children who are victims of abuse and
neglect, the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fargo, at their 2004 Chapter of Affairs, voted to establish an emergency foster care residence.
This ministry continues the long established work of the Sisters, of serving children. The Presentation Sisters began St. John’s Orphanage in Fargo in 1897. Over the years we also had a home for delinquent teenage girls and have been teachers and mentors to many young people through the schools and the parishes.
Aware of the shortage of foster homes for children needing to be placed outside their homes, the Sisters, assuming the cost of
maintaining a home and assigning personnel, have established the Presentation Sisters Emergency Foster Care facility. The purpose is to assure the safety, protection and physical and emotional needs of children though the age of 18,
who need a temporary home.
Persons interested in being a part of this ministry by volunteering or contributing financially, may contact Sister Jan at srjanihli@yahoo.com .
Sister Jan Ihli (above) ministers full time to children who need a temporary home.
Sister Mary Beauclair, a certified nursing assistant, helps at the house part time.
