Nano’s House: Presentation Emergency Foster Care

Sister Bernadette Trecker is enjoying the excitement
and challenge of a new ministry after 34 years of being an elementary teacher in the Catholic School system. She has now transferred her teaching skills to the one subject of music by offering piano keyboard instruction.
Leaning on her experience as a parish keyboard accompanist and recently finishing off a music minor
degree she is now in her second year of operating Presentation Music Studio with 24+ students, two of whom are adults.
At the ideal studio setting located at the Presentation Ministries building of
Fargo, ND, Sr. Bernadette’s musical offerings along with private instruction include occasional group lessons, two recitals per year, opportunities to use musical computer software and Rally time through a local music teacher association.
Sister Bernadette is open to receiving one or two more students for this current year and can be reached through email at: presmusicstudio@cableone.net
A stuffed teddy bear tossed in the middle of the lawn, a slightly tipped three-wheeler parked at the walk’s edge,
and toys strewn here and there among the flowers…these are sights not normally seen around the convent – until recently!
August 1, the Emergency Foster Care program began. Children, ages 0-18, may be cared for by a
licensed provider at any one time within this facility.
The transition was the result of a congregational decision made by the sisters during their Chapter of Affairs in December, 2004. In the intervening months, both
Ss. Jan Ihli and Mary Beauclair volunteered. Since then S. Jan has received her foster care provider license, the house has been blessed, and seven children have graced the rooms of “Nano’s House.”

Mission Statement
Music brings the gift of joy and happiness.
Sr. Bernadette helps give this gift of music through piano keyboard instruction at Presentation Music Studio where she caringly fosters the discipline needed to learn to make music.
