Commonly Asked Questions of the Presentation Foundation:
What are the special works of the Presentation sisters since coming to North Dakota in 1882?
The Sisters have
committed their personal and corporate resources to the promotion of peace and justice through education, advocacy and compassionate service to meet the needs of the people of God, especially the poor and vulnerable.
Today this tradition is lived out through corporate ministries: Social Justice Office, Presentation Peace Studies, Presentation Sisters’ Foundation, Presentation Prayer Center, Presentation Partners in Housing and other ministries in North Dakota, South Dakota (serving the Native American), Tennessee (serving the poor and social ministries); Mississippi (advocacy to the poor); Iowa & Missouri (education); Ohio (chaplaincy); New York (justice ministry) and Peru (serving the poor.)
Why not just charge a fee for the services that you offer?
Not everyone we serve is able to pay. The
ever-increasing limitation of reimbursed programs, growing restrictions of government funds and higher cost are bringing people to our door and causing us to stretch our operational funds much more thinly than we would like.
We believe that calling on the spirit of philanthropy among our many friends and supporters who share our vision and mission is the best way to meet the growing needs of those we serve.
Who can contribute to the Presentation Foundation?
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to any of the ministries
of the Sisters are invited to do so. Some of our most frequent contributors are community leaders, Presentation board members, staff. friends. alumni, businesses, members of a variety of spiritual groups including ecumenical groups,
and others.
How can I make a contribution?
Typical donations are give by cash payments, credit card payments or cash & credit
pledges. Pledges can be fulfilled over a determined number of months or years. Also appreciated and gratefully accepted are stocks and bonds, real estate, life insurance policies, bequest and deferred gifts. These gifts
may have significant tax benefits to those who participate.
