Due to Sr. Celine Foy's illness and subsequent
death on August 10, 2004, I was asked to assume the duties of Director of Social Justice. In September, therefore, I left my work with Sacred Heart Southern Missions in Mississippi and came to Fargo to begin work in the Social
Justice Office.
In this position I try to keep myself and the Sisters informed of religious, political and social issues pertinent to our Mission of promoting justice wherever it is lacking, and make practical
suggestions as to how we might help remedy these situations.
Part of my responsibility also calls for collaborating with other justice-oriented organizations and advocating with them on behalf of peace,
the environment and human rights.
Another aspect of my work is to serve as Justice Contact between the Sisters here in Fargo and the International Presentation Association
(IPA). It is through this organization that we network to create justice and peace world-wide.
