I received my B.A. from the College of St. Benedict in 1964 and
my Masters Degree in Science Education from Creighton University in 1979. I taught in Fargo and Langdon, North Dakota for 21 years. The last five of those years I was principal of St. Alphonsus School in Langdon, ND
In 1983 I accepted a mission in Chimbote, Peru. My days in Chimbote are spent working with people for solution to alleviate the heartbreaking conditions of their families.
As director of ACOPES, our non-governmental agency, I am responsible for the running of the Medical Post, the Education programs within the parish and the Human Rights Office in defense of the woman and children. Working a s an advisor to the Women’s Refuge Center and to our various women’s groups. This part of my ministry never leaves a dull moment.
I also spend time traveling in the United States and Europe telling people about the living conditions of the people of Chimbote and the need for funding to respond to some of these necessities.
We have many visitors throughout the year who wish to use their skills to improve the lives of people in our parish living in poverty . It is my task to arrange for housing, and to organize times, places and transportation for the volunteers to get to the project sites. In addition, I give dietary precautions guidance to our guests.
My greatest joy comes from the Family Catechism Program, preparing children, youth and adults for Baptism and Holy Communion. I also serve as an advisor to the Confirmation staff.
