Prayer Center
A quiet place of prayer and solitude in a busy city.
25th Annual Presentation Prayer Center Fund Raiser Brunch with Mary Jo Lewis, MD
Servant-Leadership:A Transformational Way of Being and Doing My call within the community of Presentation Sisters and Associates has been both through the spirituality of the Presentation Sisters and founder, Nano Nagle, and also through Ignatian spirituality. The Prayer Center has a long history of giving the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in Every Day Life. My own experience of making the exercises in 2001-2002 has led me on a spiritual journey that has been transformational for me. One of the main elements in the spiritual exercises is discerning one’s unique role or calling to help build God’s kingdom. My journey since making the exercises is one of trying to make sense of that call in my work and my communities of practice with my specific gifts and talents. How am I called to serve? How am I called to lead? How might that change over time? In the course of my study and work in the last ten years I have come upon Robert Greenleaf’s work in Servant-Leadership. I believe the notion of servant as leader is compatible with my faith, my work and my role as an Associate of the Presentation Sisters. I would like to share some of my story and some of the principles of Servant-Leadership with you at the Brunch on October 26th. Discover with me how we might be called to be both serving and leading in our communities.
